| Kylie was rescued from a home where they had too many pets to take proper care of. She was living on a chain and really didn't know how good life could be... Until she met "Melissa" . Now Kylie is a "dog of the world". She travels everywhere with her guardian. They have gone to parades, went hiking, long trips and so much more. How could it get any better ? |

| Hello Ladies! Kylie and I are soooo ready to move! Everything is packed up and ready to go. Now we just need the movers to get here (on Friday and Saturday) and we'll be all set. I'm send off some pics for you to enjoy of the little miss. I don't think I've sent any of these previously, but you may have seen them on Flickr. I also sent a link to a video of Kylie playing with a ball from YouTube earlier this evening. I love that video. It's a true representation of her personality. I also have a video of Kylie and Andi playing that I'll upload and share with you as well. Anyway....things are great and I just wanted to share our adventures with you :o) |

This morning was pretty fun...the girls starting playing with each other. Kylie is the one who instigated it. Andie was playing with a toy and laying on the doggie bed. Kylie looked like she wanted to play, but wasn't sure. Then she got into her play bow and creeped up to Andie. Andie looked at her like she was crazy! All of a sudden, it was like the lightbulb went off and she knew what Kylie was saying...then started the fun. Wrestling, running, nibbling on ears, etc. It was so wonderful and the perfect way to start my morning and week!
They played all night long...and now are both totally passed out on the bed! I didn't know Kylie had so much "wild" in her...it is so cool to see though...

Tonight I took them both to my mom's to run the backyard and they loved it. They seem to be bonding in a positive way. Right now they are both snoring on the bed and laying hiney to hiney (literally pushed right up against each other) - not quite ready for a real doggie snuggle, though. I used your tip on letting them eat in their crates. I happened to pick up a book called "Who Moved My Bone" about transitioning into a pack from an "only child" household. They suggested the same thing by also stating that making them follow you to get their food helps establish and keep yourself as Top Dog. It works out well for us though, with the meds and all.
I've taken tons of photos already (are you surprised?). I don't have any good group shots yet, though. I'll send them as I get them, later. Tonight I have to head to bed though - early meeting in the morning. Thanks for thinking of Kylie and myself when you picked up Andie :o) So far, so good!

Hello ladies!
I am so very sorry to hear about little Buttons...it's terrible and I'll keep her in my prayers...
I just wanted to share with you the fabulous summer that Kylie has been having! We went on a trip to North Platte, NE in May to see some family (which of course includes dogs). It was an 11 1/2 hour drive, but totally worth it. We also attended Bark in the Park in May. It was so fun being amongst so many dog lovers! In June we visited my Aunt in Hillsboro, MO and rode on the boat at her lake. Kylie loves being outside and she really likes the boat rides. Then this month, some family came in town and celebrated the 4th of July. We went on a hike at Pickle Springs Natural Area in MO. It's between Ste. Genevieve and Farmington, MO. The outdoors really agree with her. I have attached photos from all of the above events. I hope you enjoy perusing them :)
Happy Summer, Melissa and Kylie

Good morning, ladies!
How are you all doing? Kylie and I went to the Mardi Gras Dog Parade yesterday!! She was overwhelmed and a little scared, but her tail did pop up a number of times. So, I'm pretty sure she liked it, but wasn't sure what all the noises were. Plus, it was pretty crowded. Anyway, it was fun and she made a new friend, Lauren. She's a lab mix and just a little bigger than Kylie. We
went to the dog park before the parade and she walked around with me off-leash like she was on an invisible leash! What a good doggie :) I had to take her to the vet last week. She has colitis which flares up with stress - not surprising with her being such a bundle of nerves. The vet put her on an antibiotic for the colitis and we decided together to try out ClomiCalm (an anti-anxiety med) to let her experience the world without her fear/anxiety getting in the way. I already see a difference. I'm not saying it's a magic pill, rather an aid to realize that the world isn't all that bad. She was one tuckered out pooch last night after all the fun yesterday morning/afternoon! She was snoring sooo loud! ha ha Well, I attached a couple photos. The picture of the lady with
black curly hair is my mom with her before the parade. The other is of Kylie and me before the parade. We were at my friend's place down in Soulard (where Lauren, the lab mix lives). Hope all is well with you!

Hello! How are you all? Just thought I'd drop you a note and let you know how Miss Kylie is doing. She has started obedience classes and is sort of getting the hang of it. She's a little shy - especially when the 6 month old German Shepard barks to say hello to everyone! She has passed a few "tests" but I can't get her to lay down on "down" for the life of me :) She'll sit really good and then her bottom just pops right back up as her front goes down! I've tried all sorts of ways just to see if anything will work and I'm still stumped...hopefully we'll eventually figure it out. I've become more of "pack leader" as the Dog Whisperer says to do and let me tell you, Kylie has really lightened up when out and about. She's still skittish and all, but knows I'm there to
lead and protect with a "calm assertive" energy :) Anyway, I know now that Kylie is what was missing from my life and I
wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving her and giving her a second chance in my home. She's the best dog ever! I have a very cute photo of her with her kong toy and am sending it along. She looks like she's really thinking hard! It's definately one of her favorite toys - especially if I stuff it just right! The other picture is from Christmas eve - she was overwhelmed, but had a good time getting to know the other family dogs - Keno and Louie. Happy New Year! I hope all is well at Hope Rescues! We went for a walk this morning - and a few last night due to her curiousity about the stuff hitting the window (plus we needed to take a potty break). Anyway, I thought I'd share these photos with you that I took this morning. I got her the little cloak b/c she was shivering when it was only 40 degrees out and now it's 20!! The ducks live on the pond by our apt. She had fun, but was
curiously anxious at points - like when trees were lying over the sidewalk :)Hope you all are doing well.
Happy snow day! Melissa and Kylie |
